Hi Beautiful,
You can invest in brightening serums, dark-spot treatments, toners and moisturisers—but if you’re not protecting your skin from the sun, you may be making it much harder to maintain the results you’re working towards.
Your skincare may be working… but your skin needs protection too
Daily exposure to UV rays can contribute to hyperpigmentation, uneven-looking skin tone, premature signs of ageing and the darkening of existing marks.
This is especially important when your routine contains ingredients designed to improve the appearance of dark spots and uneven tone. Think of it this way: your skincare works on improving your skin; sunscreen helps protect that progress.
That’s why we want sunscreen to become a non-negotiable part of your morning routine.
☀️ Make SPF the final step of your morning skincare
After your serum and moisturiser, apply a broad-spectrum, high-protection sunscreen generously and evenly to exposed skin. Don’t forget commonly missed areas such as your neck and ears.
And remember: a tiny amount may not provide the level of protection stated on the product. Apply generously, and reapply during the day as directed on the sunscreen—particularly after sweating, swimming or towelling.
💛 What we're recommending right now
Many people have reached out to us for sunscreen recommendation that aligns with our skincare range, however, as we’re currently working on developing our own sunscreen formulation for black people, after careful testing of some products available in the market without darkening you we’re excited to eventually bring you an SPF that complements our skincare range.
But we don't want you waiting until then to start protecting your skin.
In the meantime, we're recommending:
It combines very high SPF protection with a lightweight serum-style format, making it an easy addition to your everyday skincare routine.
Your morning routine can be as simple as:
Cleanse → Tone → Serum → Snow Glow (Anti darkspot) → SUNSCREEN ☀️
If you've been consistent with your snow glow dark-spot or brightening routine but haven't seen the progress you hoped for, don't immediately assume your skincare isn't working. Take a look at your sun-protection habits too.
Treat sunscreen as part of your skincare—not an optional extra reserved for sunny days.
Protect your glow. Protect your progress. Wear your SPF. 💛
With love,
The MLH Beauty Team
P.S. Sunscreen isn't only for summer or holidays. UV exposure can occur year-round, including on cloudy days, so make SPF part of your everyday morning routine.
